The design seminar Learning from Pompeii (View from the North). The ancient urban form for the future city aims to investigate the relationship between form, typologies and spaces of the ancient city – and defines new ones. It involves six universities: the Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II” (hosting institution, scientific representative: Prof. Federica Visconti), the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, the Technische Universität Dortmund, the Fachhochschule University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven and the Technische Universität Graz.

The Blended Intensive Program (BIP) combines online meetings with in-person design activities taking place at DiARC (Dipartimento di Architettura of the Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”) from July 23rd to 29th. Starting on May 16th, the kick-off meeting and the starting meeting will introduce the archaeological site of Pompei as the project area, its morphology, its typologies, and the technique of analogy in the design process.
